I'm extremely honored to have been the active worship drummer for Abiding Place Ministries for the last 10 years. Before playing at Abiding Place Ministries, I played in my late father's churches and in school. His name was Jose Papo Matos and he introduced me to music at a young age. He was the Pastor and worship director throughout my childhood and teenage years. Though I have had extensive musical training, I have no boast other than in Christ Jesus. Without Him there is no life!

Online and In-Person in San Diego, CA. Pictured is one of my students, playing in church. THIS is why I teach music! I teach drums, music theory, composition, beginner guitar, beginner woodwinds and beginner trumpet.
I provide music education that is non-sectarian and non-religious in nature. Instruction focuses on musical technique, rhythm, coordination, creativity, and performance skills across a variety of styles and genres. Lessons are open to students of all backgrounds and are provided without discrimination based on religion, race, ethnicity, gender, disability, or personal beliefs.
I participate in worship or purely instrumental gigs only. That's what I play, no exceptions. Here I am doing one of my favorite things, worshipping with my mom and uncle.
I enjoy studio session work. My experience includes latin music, jazz and variety of other genres within the worship music arena. I am not available for any non-worship albums unless they are purely instrumental.
PRICING
Beginner music lesson options include: guitar, music theory, saxophone, clarinet and trumpet. Reading music is taught and utilized, along with various books and customized learning materials.
In-person music lessons in San Diego County. This includes San Marcos and Escondido. 30-min lessons are $45. 1-hour long lessons are $80. An additional fee of $15 applies if I bring my personal drum set for the lesson. Reading music is taught and utilized, along with various books and customized learning materials.
I'm available to travel for studio work and live gigs. Contact me for more info.
